Wine Flight

We are taking flight to this adorable wine store in Elmore, OH. Whether you love aviation, wine or both Wine Flight is full of charm, adventure and unique design. We even got the chance to talk to owners Rebekah and Tony Zimmerman about their passion and inspiration for Wine Flight.

From the street corner this store looks warm and inviting. Once you cross over to the other side you are immersed in an environment that will spark your inner explorer. From the wine compass and cork map to the aviation pieces and Edison bulbs you are instantly inclined to go outside your usual and experience something new.

Rebekah shared with us that it was her passion for small business, wine, craft beer and the quaintness of small towns that inspired her to open up Wine Flight. She is also a Level 1 Sommelier which translates to her being well informed on the unique wine selection available on location. Tony shared with us that he contributed to creating/building of the tables, the bar and other furniture pieces in the store. He even shared the story of the long table they have toward the back of the store; I highly encourage you ask him about it. Both Rebekah and Tony have private pilot license which is why they chose an aviation theme for Wine Flight.

When picking out wines you have a few ways to decide on which ones you want to take home:

The first way is through their tasting experience. You can do a flight and select 4 wines or 4 craft beers or mix and match. In addition to their wines and craft beers you can also order from a variety of appetizer and dessert items off their menu or order from a partner restaurant. My husband and I love making a date night out of visiting Wine Flight, ordering pizza and sipping on some wine.

The second way is by reviewing the wine compass inside the store. This was painted by a local artist and the owners wanted to provide a visual so you could have a better experience exploring the different wines. I love this piece because when I am wanting to try something new I look at where melbec is on the compass and navigate from there.

Finally, my personal favorite way to pick a wine is to read the paring cards above each selection. In the video I read a few of them out loud and based on the first description I read I did end up purchasing that wine.

In addition to the wine tasting experience Rebekah and Tony are dedicated to making a difference in their community. They not only participate in but host many of their own community events. From craft night, trivia, book clubs and even yoga there is an event for everyone. And if you ever need help picking out a wine they are more than willing to help you decide on the best bottle for a special occasion or just because. The space also has a back patio and on specific nights dogs are welcome. And if you need a venue for your gathering Wine Flight offers rental space as well.
