While mindlessly scrolling on Facebook I came across this amazing initiative an hour away from my house. The Brides Project is a bridal salon full of possibilities both in the dress selection process, with a variety of accessories (veil, shoes, jewelry, bouquets) and beyond. 100 percent of the proceeds go to the Cancer Support Community of Ann Arbor.

We got the opportunity to meet the Director – Kim Nowaczyk who shared with us the story of how the Bride’s Project came about. Eleven years ago this initiative began in the basement of the founder Monique’s house and grew into this wonderful salon in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Kim Nowaczyk also shared that The Bride’s Project is subset of the Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor and provides 30% of their annual funding. This is all possible due to the dresses being donated by other bridal salons or from previous brides so that 100% of the proceeds goes to the Cancer Support Community of Ann Arbor.

During this episode I channeled my inner Disney princess and tried on a drop waist ball gown with a beautiful broach bouquet and a rhinestone studded veil. I loved the beading on the bodice of the gown.

In addition to the gorgeous selection of gowns they also offer a selection of belts, veils, shoes, bouquets, jewelry and accessories. They also have a wonderful partnership with a local seamstress Jan from Alterations by Jan so you can keep your business within the organization.

For my own wedding day I chose a sheath Oleg Cassini lace gown with detailing on the back. I also bought the rhinestone belt and asked Jan to add it on for me. Finally, I did get my earrings from The Brides Project as well. The dress, belt and jewelry purchases all went toward the Cancer Support Community of Ann Arbor. This transaction was particularly important to me because I lost a dear loved one to cancer and this was my way of honoring her.
