Atlanta, GA Extended Weekend Travel Guide
I have looked forward to visiting Atlanta, GA especially knowing it is an entertainment production hub (even Love Is Blind from Netflix was produced in the city). Here is my Extended Weekend Travel Guide to Atlanta, GA including 3 must-dos!
The Varsity opened in 1928, across 2 city blocks, accommodating up to 800 diners, and became famous as “the world’s largest drive in.” With classics like chili dogs, burgers, fries and an ice cold fountain Coca-Cola this is a great place to grab a bite to eat. I had the opportunity to visit this location with friends from the area. I loved all the nostalgia and memorabilia this original location had.
While visiting my sorority sister in Atlanta, GA she took us to New Realm Brewing Company. Established in 2016, this location has a variety of craft brews ranging from sours to German inspired concoctions and you can chow down on pub favorites. What makes this location STELLAR is the incredible view of the city from the rooftop loft. In addition, they have a courtyard with fire pits and ample seating. Great place to gather a group of friends and spend a nice summer or autumn evening.
The Battery Atlanta is home of the Atlanta Braves. It is in close proximity of the Cobb Galleria Centre. Several restaurants, entertainment and beautiful landscaping makes this a MUST DO.
Now, I am one to preach local all day however we have not been to this restaurant in almost 2 years and had a hankering for Wahlburgers. Featured is “Mark’s Choice” which is a Thanksgiving Turkey Burger with stuffing, mayo (I swap this out), house made orange-cranberry sauce and roasted butternut squash. Also, be sure to share a #cheers with house original Wahlbrewski!
Walking around The Battery Atlanta I found this adorable store full super cute chic household and unique items. Sugarboo and Co. is a family business that stared in 2005 and has 11 locations including Disney Springs (FL) and Downtown Disney District (CA).
CNN Studio Tours is a really great, educational experience for you to learn about the art of broadcast journalism and the magnitude it takes to run a 24-hour cable news station. From unique history of the building to the jaw dropping equipment expenses for production quality you will gain a wide range of information. This tour did not allow videography or photography so I don’t have a lot of footage from the experience; I highly encourage you to check it out on your next Atlanta, GA trip.
World of Coca-Cola is the ultimate voyage for all pop culture and cola lovers. My husband is a collector and enjoyed this museum. With 13 unique exhibits and experiences including “Taste It,” “The Vault,” and fun interactive games throughout the 2 level 20 acre complex, you will easily spend hours having fun and learning about Coca-Cola. This is a MUST DO!
It was raining all day so we chose to stay in the Centennial Park District. Johnny Rockets is a 50’s theme diner known for malt milkshakes and a fun dinning experience. I was first introduced to this franchise at Cedar Point located in Sandusky, OH. Great comfort food and was a nice break from the down pour outside.
Centennial Olympic Park is the center connecting all the touristy attractions we visited on this rainy day. Twenty-two acres of Georgia’s lasting legacy of the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. Full of monuments, aquatic displays and beautifully landscaped pathway’s this is a MUST DO!
We had a great extended weekend trip to Atlanta, GA. When planning your next trip I hope you keep my top 3 must-do’s in mind. Watch the full episode of this Extended Weekend Travel Guide - Atlanta, GA by clicking the button below.
