5 Reasons Why The Animal Kingdom is Worth Considering

I will be honest and say this is a Disney park I often overlook when booking my vacation. There aren’t a ton of rides and I’m spoiled having a great zoo near my home. When I did finally make the decision to visit this park I truly enjoyed my day and have found a new appreciation for it. Here are 5 reasons why The Animal Kingdom is worth considering: 

1.)   Festival of the Lion King 

This is by far the BEST show in all of Walt Disney World; in my own personal opinion. They have outstanding singers, stunt performers and of course Simba, Timone and Pumba from The Lion King. This show alone is worth going to the park. 

2.)   Characters 

Classic Disney characters including Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Chip and Dale are in different attire than the other parks. Chip and Dale’s dinosaur costumes are my favorite. Plus, Animal Kingdom is home to  Kevin from UP and Pocahontas.

3.)   Exotic Cuisine

In true Disney fashion the food is inspired by the theming which include the main areas Africa, Asia and Pandora. Although Epcot has the world showcase, I don’t feel the flavors of Africa really get to shine like they do in The Animal Kingdom. Plus, there is a special craft beer brewed special for and only served at the Nomad Lounge in the Animal Kingdom. It is delicious! 

4.)   Pandora

The Pandora section of the park, inspired by the hit film Avatar, is a sight to see especially at night. Plus, it is home to one the best rides in all of Walt Disney World - Flight of Passage. Similar to the hang glider ride Soarin’, Flight of Passage gives you an immersive experience on the back of the winged creature the Mountain Banshee. What sets this ride over the top is the detail of Banshee’s breath in between your straddle.  

5.)   Relaxing & Easy to do in 1 day

This park is perfect to do when you want something to do in between crazy park days. You can easily have a laid back day, see and do most things you want in the park and be satisfied with your decision to go. 

Animal Kingdom is often overlooked but I do have a new perspective on it. It’s not for everyone and I don’t think it will be a must do every time I visit Walt Disney World but it is definitely worth considering.
