5 Must-Do’s During Your Girls Day in the 419

Little known thing Toledo visitors may not be aware of is just how quick you can get from place to place. Most locations in and around the Toledo area are anywhere from 20-35 minutes depending on traffic. So when my friend decided to come make a visit I had to show her around. I planned the ultimate girls day and here are 5 must-do’s to consider next time you visit:

Coffee Break

What better way to start the day than grabbing a coffee. There are so many great shops in the area but I took my friend to one of my favorite places in town Maddie & Bella Coffee Roasters

Located in the charming downtown of Perrysburg, OH this local coffee shop is always updating their menu reflecting the season. We tried the “Peep My Latté.”

A Walk Along the River

The sun was shinning and we had to work off some of the deliciousness that was in our caffeinated drink so we took a stroll along the river at Riverside Park.

I really like visiting this area because it feels like you are in a lake town without having to drive far. The park has long winding paths and plenty of places to sit and take in the sights.

Shopping

What would a girls day be without shopping? There were two stops we made on our girls day that I wanted to share with my friend.

Shimmery Belle Boutique is an adorable shop in the Levis Commons Shopping Center in Perrysburg, OH. The styles are unique, cute and comfortable. Of course I couldn’t leave without getting a little something.

The Shops at Fallen Timbers are located in Maumee, OH. An outdoor shopping area I feel gets forgotten often. There is a movie theater, dinning options, many chain stores you are used to visiting and landscaping that makes spending an afternoon here worth the trip.

Getting Wild

Next on our list was a visit to The Toledo Zoo. We had so much fun watching the animals and making funny commentation as to what they may be thinking.

We also caught a swarm of sharks on camera and of course went right into the baby shark song; it’s only fitting.

Cheers!

To finish out our day I took my friend to a new chic bar in town, Firefly. This new location is in Hensville, Downtown Toledo and also has their own transportation. The ambiance is chic lounge with elements that remind you of late summer nights catching fireflies.

The drinks are both gorgeous and exquisite. They taste as delicious as they look (although they are almost too pretty to drink). We got some street tacos which I highly recommend and split the Mediterranean flatbread which was both flavorful and satisfying.

BONUS

While enjoying drinks at Firefly, we noticed some activity at Fifth Third Field so we started searching for answers on our phones. Turns out there was a baseball game so we got our last drinks in a DORA cup and headed out to catch some of the action.

Overall it was a wonderful day and I am so glad I got to share this with both my friend and you. I hope this gives you a starting point for planning your next day trip in the 419.
