It’s OK to Not Feel OK & Here is How to Overcome It

I’m coming out…I go to therapy! GASP! SHOCK! AWE! Ok but seriously why is getting help for my mental health taboo? We go to the doctor when we aren’t feeling well! We go to the gym to maintain our physical health so why on earth wouldn’t I go to someone who can help me maintain my mental well being? I have noticed that even though we are making strides as a society we are still not quite there with mental health acceptance. I’m not talking with others judging I’m talking about us judging ourselves! For so long I had this filtered, unrealistic idea of what happiness is. I used to…

    Time Has No Empathy

Time is a funny thing. When we are bored out of our mind each minute acts as a century.  When we are enjoying the moment, time ticks away faster than we take a second breath; the hours feel like milliseconds. When tragedy strikes time knows no rules. It’s as if the clock keeps ticking away with fear of unknowing but it also stands still with angst and despair. I never thought in a million years I would be part of a search party and yet here I am searching for a woman who I call Grandmother! After 3 days of our beloved mother and grandmother missing we organize our best…

Dog Mom Chronicles: Signs You Are a Crazy Dog Mom

I have recently become a first time puppy parent and I have to be honest I am totally and completely in love! No, really I am! The first hour I we got our dog he puked on me in the car and I still love him. He has pooped in places he shouldn’t have and we still love him. No matter what I know at the end of the day his survival, his behavior and his social skills depend on me and while that may seem like pressure it is more motivation to try even harder. Ok enough with the sappy stuff. I have become a crazy dog mom! I…

    Let’s Talk the 4C’s of a Relationship

Let’s Talk the 4C’s Whether you recently got engaged married or are in a committed relationship there is something every couple should take seriously: the 4C’s. I’m not talking about bling; although the 4C’s are a good guide to go by in that aspect as well. I’m specifically referring to the 4C’s in relationships. You can find many variations and definitions of these but here are my 4C’s in a relationship: Communication I’m going to be real with you and say if you don’t have the ability to communicate with your partner, beyond superficial needs, you should seriously focus on this. Communication should be number 1 in a relationship. Being…

Set Your Goals Up For Success

“Follow Your Dreams” “Never stop Dreaming” “Chase Your Dreams” do these sound both familiar and at the same time underwhelming? I know the feeling. I have pondered these quotes many times. What do these really mean? Follow your passion sure, but what is my passion? I have a dream but I really don’t know how to get there. Dreams are great but in reality they are thoughts. Without an action plan they will be nothing but fantasies. There are 4 keys to achieving your dreams : Vision, Goals, Deadlines and Finance. “Can you see it from here?” Having a vision is step one to making your dreams come true. A…

    Food, Family and Conflict

The leaves have changed, the temperature has cooled and televised commercials of various adaptations of Christmas morning are frequent; yep the holidays are here. I personally enjoy this time of year because there is warmth in the hearts of the ones you love. Sipping on hot chocolate, watching a Hallmark film while getting cozy with my significant other makes the cold more bearable. Although I enjoy the holiday season there is one thing that is unavoidable..FAMILY! Let’s face it you have been out of the house for some time and while you love your family meshing with a diverse set of personalities who are in close relation to you can…

    The Voice VS. American Idol

I love to audition! It is the perfect reason to travel and meet new people. I have auditioned for The Voice and American Idol; you can click on the links for those audition processes. This is my comparison of the two experiences. Fox’s American Idol and NBC’s The Voice have very different audition processes. Both have open call auditions the general public can attend. Note that Simon Cowell was the producer for American Idol and does produce other reality talent competition show meaning the audition process may be similar. Registration: American Idol-is 2 days prior to open call audition. The crappy part is you had to give up 3-5 days…

Dancing Passion: Find Your Inner Dancer

Have you ever watched a dancer? When they perform on stage magic happens. There is more than just syncopated movement, impressive tricks; dancer are feeling their movement from their soul. A dance performance is incomparable to other performers. A singer can sing the notes and an actor can entertain you but a dancer moves you. Dancers are doing so much more than counting to 8, they are burning inside with passion. A sensation so deep they have no option but to dance it out. I studied various genres of dance since age 4. By 18 I was teaching hip hop to pre-teens. Although performing and teaching dance is behind me that passion still burns…

    Morning Struggles

As a kid I would beg my mom to let me stay up late. Now, I am excited to be in bed by 9pm. Mornings are a struggle for us non-early risers. I hit the snooze button at least 3 times. I read, somewhere online, the most successful people make the most of their time by starting early. I’m not a morning person but I am all about maximizing the time I do have. I can’t promise you will magically become a morning person but by implementing a few morning routines you will better your happy living and get a head start on daily career ambitions.   Get Excited Do…

    Video Editing for Iphone 6s

If a picture is worth 1,000 words imagine what 24 frames per second could say. Video is my favorite way to story tell. Whether I am making a promo for an upcoming event or showing you my life struggles, I am utilizing video to tell #hayliestory. Several of my blogging friends have expressed interest in using video for their website but fear they lack editing skills. I have good news and bad news for you. The good news is editing isn’t that hard as long as you have a vision for the story you are trying to tell. The bad news is if you can’t film no amount of editing…
